You may have been aware that the World Surf League hosted their very first public event at the Surf Ranch in Lemoore, California. We can’t denied it, we’re living in the wave pool era, and it is quite a unique experience.

While the surf world was mainly fixated on what was happening in Lemoore over the weekend, some 1,500 miles away in Waco, Texas another wave pool technology unveiled itself. The new wave pool is part of the legendary wakeboarding hub at BSR Cable Park.

The BSR Surf Resort, now count with this wave pool, builted using the technology provided by American Wave Machines, called PerfectSwell, is the first and only air-pressure system to create naturally occurring ocean swells for authentic world class surfing. This “surf pool” project was developed for a year, with the collaboration of surfers Jamie O’Brien and Cheyne Magnusson, and is now installed in Waco, Texas. BSR Cable Park officially unveiled it over the weekend. And today we bring you one of the first visitors experience.

This bunch of guys, went there for the first time, to see for themselves if this waves are as good as they say, and of course they decided to share with us their first time experience. This wave generated by man uses air chambers and it seems to offer an experience a little closer to that of being in the ocean, allows to choose its frequency, direction, height, duration or quality through an iPhone or iPad. In theory, according to the company itself, without waiting time for the waves.

There are closeout sections, different peaks to choose from and the need to actually paddle out. They also maintain that in case of incidents, it will be possible to drain and repair in a simple way, without wasting tons of gallons. It also allows for multiple surfers to be in the pool at the same time, all catching different waves of three-wave sets.

The resort features cabins, a cable park and the BSR Super Slide – Royal Flush. AWM is teaming up with BSR to create a 2 acre surf lake incorporating PerfectSwell Infinite Ocean design and surf generating technology. American Wave Machines, Inc. announced this will be one of the largest inland surfing and watersports facilities in the country at BSR Cable Park and Resort near Waco, Texas. Plans include the addition of big cabins for accommodations, a full service surf shop, and BSR’s signature bar and restaurant.

“Stuart Parsons is the right guy in the right place at the right time. What he’s created at BSR is amazing, he’s a visionary guy.” said Bruce McFarland, President of AWM, “This is an operating ranch. I saw more wildlife in 4 hours at BSR than I’ve seen in years of hiking and mountain biking. My whole team is totally stoked to work with the folks at BSR.”

“I did my research and American Wave Machines came out on top. They’ve been installing all kinds of wave systems all over the world for the last 10 years with a 100% track record.” said Stuart Parsons, “I like that PerfectSwell can create an infinite variety of waves appealing to surfers of all levels, and no need for special pool bottom contours. My team can build this. We’re ready to start digging.”

Pro surfers Jamie O’Brien and Cheyne Magnusson, have already started working in the AWM lab programming waves that almost defy the imagination. “I feel like we’re going to be getting so many good waves we’re going to be overloaded…” said Jamie O’Brien.

According to the site, visiting the park will run you a breezy $60/hr, or $100 a day, with private cabanas available at $250, including table service. But for now don’t miss this day of waves and lots of fun these guys had in this Wave Pool at BSR Cable Park
