The Galapagos Islands (Spanish: Islas Galápagos, officially Archipiélago de Colón, Columbus Archipelago) are an archipelago in the eastern Pacific Ocean. They are located at the equator about 1000 km west of the Ecuadorian coast in South America, belong to Ecuador and form the same name Galápagos with the capital Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.
