Diving Glenelg Barge

This wreck is a hopper barge lying approximately 120 meters from the Glenelg Dredge. There is a star-dropper trail leading from the Dredge to the Barge, however, if making the journey be sure to plan your air consumption, so you can easily return to your boat

The barge is a good, but often neglected wreck to dive due to the interests that the Dredge has to offer. There is also a little reef that lies of the Glenelg Barge as well.

The Barge is a good dive and is commonly used as a training site for advanced diver courses learning about wreck diving. The Barge is open and allows near all-round exit, however, still has a lot of traps and entanglements due to the cables and small overhead areas that are present.

for the anglers, it gives a good overview of why your lines can easily get caught.

A great dive, and if planned correctly you can enjoy a couple of dives across both the Dredge and Barge, or if your air supply allows, a lovely single dive across both sites.

I often anchor on one of the two sites, and swim to the further-est site first – appreciate that and then return to dive the site from where my vessel is anchored.

If you are a visiting diver, check with the local dive charters and dive clubs, as this is an easily accessible boat dive site.

Hope you enjoy the video.
