The 22nd edition of the Fise World Series 2018 culminates in Montpellier, a magnificent edition.
Since Wednesday, more than 500,000 people have wandered along the banks of the Lez River, in the heart of Montpellier. During the first 4 days, attendance increased by 23% compared to 2017 with 515,000 admissions.
Because of the rain that fell on the FISE all the competitions on earth were canceled, but the wake board remained in the program.
Unfortunately, the torrential rain on the last day prevented us from breaking records, however, with this large number, the festival maintains its position as the third largest sporting event in France and the largest multidisciplinary sports action festival in the world. On display this week, there were no less than 7 sports and 14 disciplines represented with 1,900 athletes, amateurs and professionals.
From BMX to Parkour through Skateboarding, Rollerblading, Mountain Biking, Scooter and Wakeboard, no fewer than 20 to 30 competitions were organized every day. Among them, 4 World Cups and 2 disciplines that recently entered the Olympic calendar: BMX Freestyle Park and Skateboarding.
After the visit of the sports minister this is the second event of the day, the final wake board in the presence of Ben Leclair comments. The conditions were difficult with the rain and the temperature at 10 ° but the riders were motivated to put on a show for the brave spectators who have gathered on the banks of the lez. At least there is no wind.
The weather did not cooperate and we had torrential rains, which meant that it was unsafe and impossible to continue with most of the competitions. However, the Wakeboard Pro and Amateur competitions were still held. For the final of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park and the WSRC Freestyle World Cup Final, the classification of the semifinal will be taken as the final result and the count for the official ranking of the World Series.
Timo Kapl landed backside 900 to score 33.75 pts which puts him second behind a Dominik Hernler who landed a very comfortable in backside 180 double grab. He likes to ride on the kicker in the opposite direction. Daniel Grant remains at an unusual 4th place with 29.58. His incomprehensible fall trying a mobydick confirms that it is not his weekend, unlike Guenther Oka who is only 3 points behind his Austrian compatriot.
The Austrian retains his lead with two new flawless runs and the most beautiful tantrum blind out of pole jam.
