I know they’re crabs but seeing them crawling around still gives me the creeps.

Poor guy. Crabs are most vulnerable right after molting because they’re still soft. Then again, we cook them right after and serve them as “soft shelled crab.” Shit’s good though…

well at least he did’nt overfeast himself, he had like 3 crabs in front of his mouth but he gave the other 2 a chance to molt further 😀

Because it’s molting. Shedding its old exoskeleton in order to grow and make a new one. It’s the most vulnerable they ever are and become paralyzed for a while waiting for the skeleton to grow. Once out of their shell they usually burry themselves in order to hide
