During the summer months in Melbourne’s Port Phillip Bay, thousands of small squid start their lives in the bay. If their lucky and can survive a Fisherman’s squid jig and dozens of predators-they might get a chance to grow up to breed.
Squid seem to know when its OK to relax and observe and when its time to flee. At times roles are reversed and the predator can become the prey. Often its the size of one species that determines the role played.

Really great footage. Were the larger fish Tommy Ruffs or Australian Salmon?
Tommy Ruffs or Bay trout? I get mixed up with their ID. Small juvenile Australian Salmon is my understanding of what they are.
