Tamara – Story of the Cape Jaffa

In 1973 the fishing trawler – Cape Jaffa (ex Tamara) disappeared with the loss of 3 lives. Built in 1951, in a backyard shed in Kingston SE, by Jack Lane, this short video tells the story of the Cape Jaffa from when it was built to its loss in 1973.

A thank you to all who assisted in helping with this story.

Many thanks for posting this video on YouTube.  I remember the story very well because of the unfortunate coincidence that there were 2 Shane Lloyds living in a small town like Kingston SE, one of which was my brother.  I was in the Navy at the time the Cape Jaffa (Tamara) was lost.  It was with great sadness that I heard of the loss of life at sea.  The skipper, Kevin Reed, also used to work in the local shearing sheds with my father.

+Warren Lloyd I am sorry, however, only realised your post did not go up Warren. I shall also inform Kevin’s son, Steven of your post. Again, my apologies.
